Hailed by the New York Times as a “truly groundbreaking musical unmatched by anything in the theater today” and as “the best musical in a generation” by the New York Observer, SPRING AWAKENING is the most talked about new musical on Broadway and is presented as a part of the 2007-2008 Citibank Best of Broadway season under the direction of Carole Shorenstein Hays.Based on the infamous 1891 Frank Wedekind play and featuring an original score by Grammy-nominated recording star Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater, SPRING AWAKENING is the story of kids trying to break loose and adults trying to hold on; it is the story of young people everywhere. This coming of age tale is primarily seen through the eyes of three teenagers: the handsome rebel, the innocent woman-child, and the misunderstood loner. This new musical features book and lyrics written by Steven Sater, music by Duncan Sheik, directed by Michael Mayer and choreographed by Bill T. Jones. The production features costumes by Susan Hilferty (Tony award nominee), set design by Christine Jones (Tony award nominee), lighting by Kevin Adams (Tony award winner) and sound by Brian Ronan. The show features Kyle Riabko and Blake Bashoff in the lead principal roles.Videos
