San Diego Women's Chorus to Welcome New Members at New Member Orientation and Informational Session

Following a productive summer touring schedule which included an appearance at Sister Singers Festival in Grand Rapids, Michigan, multiple community performances in and around greater San Diego, and a standing room only, sold out Pride concert, the San Diego Women's Chorus (SDWC) begins its 2018/2019 singing season this month. Interested community members are invited to learn more about participation at the group's Fall 2018 New Member Orientation and Informational Session on Sunday August 19th from 4-7pm at the SDWC rehearsal space at Mission Hills United Church of Christ, located at 4070 Jackdaw Street, San Diego, CA 92103.

SDWC is a non-audition, lesbian-identified community chorus that welcomes members from the vastly diverse LGBTQ and straight-ally communities. SDWC sings music for Soprano and Alto voices and welcomes all woman-identified, gender-nonconforming, and transgender individuals as singing members. Interested new members should RSVP to membership@sdwc.org to reserve their space at the Orientation Session.

All interested singers must attend a New Member Orientation meeting to learn more about SDWC, the upcoming season preparing for SDWC's Winter Concert "Home for the Holidays" scheduled for December 1 & 2, 2018 and to also meet with Artistic Director Kathleen Hansen to assess their ability to match pitch. Interested members do not need to prepare a formal audition song, however, they will be asked to individually meet with the Artistic Director to sing music scales and determine ability through a common song selection, such as "Happy Birthday".

The San Diego Women's Chorus performs music from a wide variety of genres, including contemporary choral, pop, Broadway, and standard choral repertoire. They seek out high quality and meaningful music by and for women, as well as music that represents the feminist, women's and LGBTQ+ choral movements.

Interested new members can visit www.sdwc.org for more information about joining!
