Tracing the history of vocal music in the United States from the 1950s through today The Doo Wop Project brings five-part harmony to Poway OnStage for one-night-only, April 29, 2017. It begins early in the history of this style of music covering the contributions of groups like the Crests, Belmonts, Flamingos, continues through Smoky Robinson, The Temptations and Four Seasons and Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz and Amy Winehouse.

Conceived backstage at the August Wilson Theatre in New York City, the show stars current and former cast members of "Jersey Boys" and "Motown: The Musical," performing the songs first popularized by rhythm-and-blues and rock 'n' roll groups in the 1950s and '60s.

While most musicals have clear stars of the show, The Doo Wop Project shares lead vocals and doesn't have one main singer, something Dominic Nolfi said was important to the group. Though their setlist includes songs they've sung on the Great White Way, Nolfi said performing as The Doo Wop Project is different; he describes it as "harmony, partnership and fun."

Dominic Scaglione commented, "No matter what generation you are or what kind of music you listen to, we're going to offer something you like." He also described the audience's response to the rapport the performers share onstage. "They really pick up on the fact that we really love each other and enjoy each other's company."
