Performing Arts Organizations Unite for San Diego Theatre Week 2017
In 2016, over 40 San Diego performing arts organizations collaborated to promote the first annual San Diego Theatre Week, and the results exceeded expectations. Participating performances were held across San Diego County.
The second annual San Diego Theatre Week will take place Tuesday, February 28 - Sunday, March 5, 2017 .
"The first Theatre Week was a tremendous success," says D. Candis Paule, President of the San Diego Performing Arts League, the local organization which serves as a liaison and advocate for performing arts organizations, and which runs the iconic ArtsTix Ticket Center in the Horton Plaza Park downtown. "Just as 'Restaurant Week' is a week for foodies to explore new culinary options while saving money, our vision for "Theatre Week" came true as Audience members took advantage of the opportunity to discover new theatre companies and unforgettable arts experiences. It's the perfect chance to try out something new."
Participating performing arts groups will be offering a variety of special promotions during the week of February 28-March 5, 2017. Offers will include ticket discounts, offers for concessions, cast talk-backs and more.
Many theatres will be performing during the special week, and organizations without events that week will have special offers for future performances. Audience members can take advantage of purchasing these offers through March 5.
Many organizations offer discounts (the Performing Arts League encourages discounts of 20% to participate.) Some organizations offer value added additions to the theatre experience, like concessions, or cast talk-backs, where audiences can interact with cast members.
