InnerMission Productions has announced the final production of its 2017-18 season, "Falling." This San Diego premiere was written by Deanna Jent and will be directed by Samantha Ginn. "Falling" begins on Friday, November 11, 2017 and plays through Saturday, November 25, 2017 with a press opening on Friday, November 10 at 7:30 p.m. In the Black Box space at Diversionary Theatre.

"Falling" boldly explores the dynamic and complicated reality of a family with a son with autism. When a relative comes to visit, the entire family is thrown out of equilibrium, with everyone trying to balance what is best for the family and what is best for them. The play bravely speaks about love and family and hopes and dreams. It asks, "What choice do you make that can effect the ones you love most?"

"As someone with a passion for working with individuals with special needs, I'm so thankful to be directing 'Falling' because all of my passions are colliding, and because it's important for us to gain insight into the world of autism and expand our appreciation for all beings on this vast spectrum of life." - Samantha Ginn, director

"When is the last time you saw a show about a family who has a son with autism? That is why we are producing 'Falling'." - Carla Nell, Artistic Director & Producer

The ensemble cast of this San Diego premiere features Robert Malave as Josh, a young man with autism, D. Candis Paul as his mother Tami, Steve Schmitz as his father Bill, Alanna Serrano as his sister Lisa, and Kathi Copeland as Sue, his grandmother.

The creative team includes Carla Nell and Kym Pappas (Producers), Jerry Burke (Assistant Director), Steve Schmitz (Fight Choreographer), Alondra Velez (Scenic Designer), Alanna Serrano (Costume Designer), Alex Guzman (Sound Designer), Jennie Olson Six (Dramaturg) and Colleen Keith (Stage Manager).

Samantha Ginn (director): Samanatha graduated from Sonoma State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre Arts. Some acting credits include; Seminar, Dog Sees God, The Vagina Monologues (InnerMission Productions), Well, Scrooge in Rouge (Diversionary Theatre), The North Plan (ion theatre), The Revolutionists, Hickorydickory (Critics Circle Award), Trouble in Mind (Moxie Theatre), Sylvia, The Weir, The Miss Firecracker Contest (New Village Arts), She-Rantulas from Outer Space in 3D! (New York Fringe Festival), The Car Plays (La Jolla Playhouse), When it Comes (The Old Globe Creative Catalyst), and The Warrior's Duet (Circle Circle dot dot). In addition to performing, Samantha also has a passion for working with individuals with special needs. For ten years she worked in the Solana Beach School District's Special Education department. Currently, she teaches kids with unique needs privately (with improv being the foundation) to develop life skills and also teaches acting with "Inclusion Films." She also created "Monday Night Live!" in collaboration with Kids Act and New Village Arts, a program designed for kids with unique needs and neuro-typical peers to create a sketch comedy show. Last summer she directed her superstar students in a production of The Little Prince at the Dove Library in Carlsbad.
