Cygnet Presents MISTAKES WERE MADE, Beginning 9/20

Craig Wright's Mistakes Were Made is described as "a furious and funny 90 minutes of theatre." The comedy, by this prolific writer for theater and TV (Six Feet Under, Brothers and Sisters, Dirty Sexy Money), opened in 2010 at the Off Broadway Barrow Street Theatre featuring Michael Shannon. Cygnet will present its West Coast premiere.

Felix Artifex, the beleaguered Broadway producer at the heart of Craig Wright's witty satire, is a man acutely aware of the compromises needed to turn a playwright's pretentious flights of fancy into something that people might actually pay to see. San Diego favorite Phil Johnson stars as the fast-talking B-list producer who gets in over his head when he takes on an epic about the French Revolution. Egotistical movie stars, stubborn writers, his estranged wife and a mess involving sheep are no obstacles for Artie!

San Diego audiences will delight to the fast talking show biz antics of Phil Johnson, who tackles the role with just a telephone attached to his ear and his clever wit. He is joined briefly on stage and off by local actress Jacque Wilke Johnson, a comedian, actor and singer, has performed on Broadway in Les Miserables and in the Canadian production of Sunset Boulevard. Local audiences will remember him as Mr. Mushnik in last season's production of Little Shop of Horrors at Cygnet Theatre and as Grandpa Who in Dr. Suess's How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Other signature roles include The Man Who Came to Dinner at Coronado Playhouse and his new, original one-man production of Hound of the Baskervilles. Shana Wride is an actor and director who has worked both locally and regionally. She returned to San Diego and appeared as Amanda (San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Award) in Noel Coward's flippant and brilliant comedy Private Lives with Sean Murray at Cygnet Theatre. She was most recently seen as Arlene in Diversionary Theatre's production of Next Fall. She recently directed the critically acclaimed production of Walter Cronkite is Dead for San Diego Repertory Theatre; Or for Moxie Theatre; Anita Bryant Died for Your Sins for Diversionary Theatre and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? for Compass Theatre. While living in Los Angeles, she co-hosted the nationally syndicated radio show, Women Aloud with actor/comedienne Mo Gaffney.

Cygnet's performance schedule for all shows will be Wednesdays & Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 3pm and 8pm and Sundays at 2pm and 7pm.
