Woodlawn Presents A CHRISTMAS STORY from December 6-29

Following its 2012 record-breaking Broadway engagement, A Christmas Story, The Musical, premieres in Texas at the Woodlawn Theatre this holiday season. With the show concurrently running in New York and on tour in the north, the Woodlawn was selected as the exclusive producer for the southern United States. A Christmas Story, The Musical runs on the Woodlawn main stage from December 6 through December 29.

Tickets are on sale now at www.woodlawntheatre.org or by calling the box office at 210-267-8388. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sundays 3 pm. Tickets cost $15 - $23 with discounts for students, military and SATCO members.

Based on the 1983 film that runs round-the-clock on television every year, A Christmas Story, The Musical received rave reviews on its Broadway debut, scoring three 2013 Tony Award nominations, including Best Score, Best Book and Best Musical. Set in the 1940s in the fictional town of Homan, Indiana, the musical follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest for the Holy Grail of Christmas gifts-an Official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot Range Model air rifle. Ralphie plots numerous schemes to achieve his desperate desire for the BB gun. A kooky leg lamp, outrageous pink bunny pajamas, a cranky department store Santa, and a triple-dog-dare to lick a freezing flagpole are just a few of the obstacles that stand between the kid and his Christmas dream.

"The stellar performance of the play version of A Christmas Story performed by the Woodlawn Theatre last year turned heads and won the Woodlawn the exclusive rights to stage the musical version in the South," said Woodlawn Theatre board member Sherry Wehner. "The cast and crew are excited to have the opportunity to add a fun musical twist to this holiday favorite."

The Woodlawn Theatre is San Antonio's historic community theatre, located in the heart of the Deco District at 1920 Fredericksburg Road, just south of Hildebrand. Free parking with security patrol is available.
