The Playhouse San Antonio to Present 'Kids4Kids', 11/8
On November 8, 2014 The Playhouse San Antonio, Tova Rubin and Melinda Tucker will proudly present Kids4Kids, a benefit performance to raise funds and awareness for unaccompanied refugee and immigrant children.
Children are fleeing extreme violence, oppression, trafficking, and abuse in unprecedented numbers, with over 66,000 minors crossing the Southwest Border illegally in fiscal year 2014, a dramatic 88% increase over the prior year. These children are making their journey alone, entering a country with no family, no place to go, with nothing more to sustain them than the hope of a better life.
With a program made up entirely of youth performances, Kids4Kids aims to not only serve as a benefit, but also to aid our own children in developing qualities of compassion, charity, and empathy, while doing something truly beneficial for fellow children. Acts will include a wide variety of cultural and ethnic demonstrations, singing, dancing, dramatic performances, visual arts and much more.
Funds raised during Kids4Kids will directly benefit St. PJ's Children's Home and RAICES, two charities on the front lines of this immigration crisis. The critical funds will support housing, clothing, counseling, nutrition, education, legal process and much more.
Two performances will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 2pm and 5pm at the Russell Hill Rogers Theatre at The Playhouse San Antonio. Tickets can be purchased online: http://ThePlayhouseSA.org/Kids4Kids or at The Playhouse box office.
To make this event a great success, we need the support of our community members and businesses. Kids4Kids is now seeking event sponsors and we are pleased to offer a number of sponsorship benefits. Contributions can be made online by visiting: https://www.crowdrise.com/Kids4Kids.
