Jump-Start Performance Co. Honors Artists with a Fundraising Event, 10/8 ImageJump-Start Performance Co. is hosting THE BRUNCH OF CHAMPIONS on Sunday, October 8, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at La Tuna Ice House, 100 Probandt. Three champions of Creativity, Connection and Courage will be honored, and proceeds from the fundraising event will support the artistic programming of Jump-Start's 2017-2018 season. Jump-Start's champions are Zet Baer, John McBurney and Martha Prentiss. Each one has a long history with the non-profit, as a theatre artist and as a supporter. Each discovered Jump-Start in its early days and has been part of the company's extended family for at least 25 years, following it from spaces on S. Alamo and at Blue Star Arts Complex to its current home in Beacon Hill.

"Though we are very fond of our champions and proud of them, we cannot claim them exclusively," said Kim Corbin of Jump-Start. "Each is a champion in our community, too." Baer is Executive Director of Celebration Circle, a founder of The Children's Museum and a fiber artist. McBurney is a professional makeup artist, keeper of the flame of "old school drag" and a long-time Cornyation designer, and Prentiss is an actor, an early organizer of the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center and a sculptor. La Tuna, also a long-time supporter, is sponsoring the event, which will include a ceremony to honor the champions, quick preview performances from Jump-Start's upcoming season, and music provided by a live DJ. A silent auction will feature work by each champion, among other items. Brunch will include tacos, mimosas and sweets. Vegetarian options and non-alcoholic drinks will also be available.

Individual tickets are $25, which includes two tacos and three drink tickets; a VIP table is $200 and includes reserved seating and tickets for six guests. Sponsorship is $500 and includes a VIP table, six tickets to Performance Party 33 and advertising throughout the 2017-2018 season. Tickets and tables can be purchased at Vendini.com OR https://goo.gl/KVEn53 For sponsorship questions, please contact Michelle Rodriguez, michelle.rodriguez@jump-startperformanceco.org. In case of inclement weather, a rain date is scheduled for October 15, 2017. For more information, call Jump-Start at (210) 227-5867 or visit: www.jump-start.org.
