BWW PREVIEW: IN THE HEIGHTS at Watson Theatre, St Philips College
St. Philips College Theater announces its Spring production of the musical "In the Heights." This musical written by Lin Manuel-Miranda was nominated for 13 Tony awards following its Broadway debut in 2008. Manuel-Miranda has penned another musical about Alexander Hamilton playing to sold-out houses currently on Broadway. His signature style features Hip-hop, Rap, Pop, R&B, Salsa and Ballads, drawing on all the major musical styles.
"In the Heights," is the story of the Dominican neighborhood near the New York side of the entrance to the George Washington Bridge and deals with the trials and tribulations of immigration, gentrification, the high cost of education, and other issues.
The play opens April 1 and runs through April 10th, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2:30pm. There is a special performance for high schools on Thursday April 7 at 10am. Call 210 486-2205.
