Utah Symphony's Summer Concert Series to Begin Today

This summer, the Utah Symphony will present four programs to the public in its Summer Community Concert Series. Each concert will be held in a beautiful venue in northern Utah: Sundance Resort in Sundance, Thanksgiving Point at the Waterfall in Lehi, Browning Fine Arts Center at Weber State University and Snowbasin Resort in Huntsville.

The first concert will be performed on June, 28, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. on the Sundance Eccles Stage at the Sundance Resort. The next performances will be on July 3 at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi at 8 p.m. and on July 26 at 8 p.m. at Snowbasin Resort in Huntsville, Utah. These family-friendly concerts features a variety of patriotic works performed by the Utah Symphony and led by Associate Conductor, Vladimir Kulenovic.

In addition to these patriotic concerts the Utah Symphony will also perform as part of the Foulger Music Festival Concerto Competition at the Browning Fine Arts Center at Weber State University. This concert will feature the three prizewinners of the Sid and Mary Foulger International Concerto Competition alongside the Utah Symphony. It will also feature Ogden pianist Fan-Ya Lin performing Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3.

Repertoire

These concerts at Thanksgiving Point, Sundance Resort and Snowbasin Resort will include patriotic favorites such as various armed forces salutes, John Phillip Souza's "Manhattan Beach March" and Francis Scott Key and John Stafford Smith's "Star Spangled Banner," as well as selections from classic, American musicals including Leonard Bernstein's overture to "West Side Story" and selections from Meredith Willson's "The Music Man."

The program for the Foulger Music Festival Concerto will include performances from the three winners of the Sid and Mary Foulger International Concerto Competition and Ogden pianist Fan-Ya Lin performing Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3.
