Connecting Park City women (and men) with a world-wide community devoted to "ideas worth spreading,"TedxParkCityWomen comes to the St. Regis Deer Valley today, December 5.

This half-day event features a webcast of the San Francisco TEDxWomen conference entitled "Invented Here." The third annual TEDxParkCityWomen event features live-streamed webcasts of world-renowned speakers and performers as well as influential, local voices and creative thinkers. Engaging conversation about the women-centered issued are woven into the experience. The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

TED, an acronym for technology, entertainment and design, began in 1984 with the mission of creating "ideas worth spreading." Since then, leaders from all walks of life have entered the TED fold and the scope of the project has moved beyond a bi-annual conference of the world's best and brightest. Today, an array of conferences and programs, such as community-based TEDx, continue the TED mission. Like a TED conference, these independently organized satellite events are designed to bring people together and stimulate dialogue and innovation.

Past TEDxWomen speakers have included everyone from Jane Fonda to Dr. Oz. This year's simulcast includes three session themes: "To Be is to Do," "Wisdom Begins with Wonder," and "To Move the World First Move Yourself." The 2013TEDxWomen line-up of simulcast speakers ranges from Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg to experimental musician Bora Yoon. Talks and performances given by accomplished activists, artists and professionals (in the public and private sector) round out the event.

Additional TEDxWomen local speakers and performers will be announced in the coming week. Please visit EcclesCenter.org for updated information.

"This is a remarkable opportunity for Park City community members to take part in a tremendous dialogue," explains PCPAF executive director Teri Orr. "Committing one day to sharing ideas is just the beginning of the conversation, which we hope to continue in days, weeks, months and years to come."

This event is limited to 125 members of Park City Institute. Membership begins at $25. Registration for the event will be available online at www.ecclescenter.org, beginning Monday, November 25.
