Review: A Date Night to Remember at CenterPoint Legacy's LEND ME A TENOR

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, it's time to start thinking about the perfect outing for you and your Valentine.

Skip the traditional dinner and a movie and treat yourself to a truly magical experience-a night at the theatre!

CenterPoint Legacy Theatre was the winner of 13 BroadwayWorld regional awards in 2018, and they are carrying their tradition of excellence straight into 2019.

Now through February 16 at CenterPoint, you can catch the delightful Tony Award winning play, LEND ME A TENOR, (Written by Ken Ludwig).

Set in a hotel suite in 1934, LEND ME A TENOR is the story of a famous Italian opera singer, Tito Merelli, played by Dale Boam (double cast as Josh Curtis), who is set to perform at the Cleveland Grand Opera Company. Due to some unforeseen (and unusual) circumstances, the Opera team is forced to consider a replacement, but hopes to keep the audience in the dark.

When the Opera director's assistant Max, played by Michael Gardner, (double cast as Andrew Heyward), decides to literally fill Merelli's shoes, well, let's just say confusion and hilarity ensue.

Gardner and Boam are quite the dynamic duo, who often leave the audience in stitches. Their humor is amplified by the rest of the eight-member cast, who are in a constant rotation on stage throughout the play. Each cast member adds to the ever-increasing chaos and confusion, delivering a multitude of laugh-inducing situations.

The set, designed by Scott Van Dyke, who also serves as the show's executive producer, is exquisite! It serves almost as another cast member, with all the doors and props lending themselves nicely to the jokes and pandemonium in the play.

This show offers a little bit of everything, from a tragic death (or is there?), to a romantic fling (or three), to chaos and hilarity, and finally, love.

If you're looking for something equally classic and unique for a Valentine's Day outing this year, consider seeing LEND ME A TENOR at CenterPoint Legacy Theatre.
