BEAUTIFUL, THE BOOK OF MORMON & More Set for Inaugural Broadway at the Eccles Season

After 25 years, Broadway in Utah will have a new name and a new address for the 2016-17 season. Tony and Grammy Award®-winning Beautiful - The Carole King Musical will be the very first Broadway musical to play the brand-new George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Theater now under construction at 100 South and Main Street in downtown Salt Lake City with a full week of performances November 15-20, 2016.

Season tickets go on sale today (Friday, March 4) at 9am online at and in person (610 E. South Temple, M-F 9am-5pm). Phones (801-355-5502) open Monday, March 7.

The 6 show season package includes - the 2013 Tony Award® winner for Best Musical Kinky Boots; Time Magazine's #1 show of the year Matilda; the Tony Award®- winning Broadway musical from the creators of The Sound of Music and South Pacific, Rodger + Hammerstein's CINDERELLA; the national touring production of Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story On Stage; Irving Berlin's White Christmas and season opener Beautiful - The Carole King Musical.

By popular demand, The Book of Mormon, which played a sold out two week engagement in 2015 returns to Salt Lake City.

Tickets for Disney's The Lion King, The Book of Mormon, the farewell tour of MAMMA MIA!, Cirque Dreams Holidaze, and A Kurt Bestor Christmas are also on sale now exclusively to season ticket holders.

"Our first season," explains MagicSpace Entertainment CEO John Ballard, "included two shows - A Chorus Line and LES MISERABLES. Four of us took orders for season tickets by hand on 3x5 cards. This 26th time around, it is an enormous privilege to present our 2016-2017 season of Broadway musicals in North American's newest performing arts center, a venue which will transform the experience of seeing shows and which will transform downtown Salt Lake City."

The George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Theater, designed by the team of Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects and HKS Architects, will feature a winter garden with a soaring six-story glass wall and amenities including ample restrooms, an outdoor terrace and wi-fi throughout. The Encore Bistro, operated by Cuisine Unlimited, will offer a delicious pre-show menu and full bar.

Patrons will enjoy extraordinary sightlines in the 2,500-seat Delta Performance Hall from their seats beneath a state-of-the-art fiber optic starry sky. A total re-imagined Regent Street will connect City Creek Center, the Eccles Theater and Galivan Plaza. A public plaza, restaurants and retail will combine to create a place where people can gather, discover and connect.
