Runaway Stage Productions is moving on from the proposed Performing Arts Center location in West Sacramento. The company recently discovered that the building chosen for the center would require substantial structural improvements in order to meet its requirements. Those improvements were not in the project's budget, so the company is now searching for a more suitable location

"This is a very disappointing change, but a necessary one," said Producing Director Bob Baxter. "We will now focus on getting back to what we do best: producing shows," said Vice President Patrick Vath.

"The good news is we have raised the major bulk of the construction funds for the center, and our foundation funder who has matched every dollar we raised is still supporting out effort to build a theatre once we find the right fit," said Baxter. The company has raised a substantial amount of money in foundation and private-donor funds, which will provide a jumpstart on construction once a more suitable location is secured.

Runaway Stage Productions is a nonprofit educational theatre company which for the last 20 years has been producing Broadway style musicals, the Youth Musical Theatre Workshops (providing theatrical education to the youth of the greater Sacramento community), and the Storybook Children's theatre providing affordable theatre for families.
