BOXED UP: THE MUSICAL At Capital Stage

Boxed Up the Musical's creative team is excited to announce a one night only showcase of the entire musical theatre series. The Boxed Up Binge, is in partnership with professional theatre company, Capital Stage and will be performed on Sunday, November 5th at 7:30pm. Experience the original music performed live by the Boxed Up band and cast, along with insights into the project from the creative team and cast.

Boxed Up, a brand new episodic romantic musical comedy, follows the story of Marion, a lovable shut in who fears of going outside due to her ability to order anything she needs for her life, straight from the internet. But when Marion finally falls for Jake, a charming and adorkable delivery guy, Marion Begins to wonder if her life is as perfectly balanced as she once thought. Boxed Up pokes fun at our modern obsession with technology and on demand service apps while fully embracing the musical theatre genre. It is also a unique theatrical experience that injects the short attention span of television viewing into a musical.

ABOUT THE PROJECT Boxed Up is an original musical theatre project developed by David Taylor Gomes (composer), Wesley Gomes (producer), and Joelle Robertson (producer). As residents of The Warehouse Artist Lofts (WAL) David and Wesley had a desire to bring musical theatre to WAL's monthly FiRSt Friday event. Recruiting fellow theatre professional Joelle, and a team of writers, actors, musicians, directors, designers, and photographers, the creative team conspired to put together an immersive episodic musical theatre experience...and stage it in David and Wesley's apartment. Boxed Up was broken up into 6 episodes, performed on the First Friday of every month from May to October, with 30 minute long performances happening 5 times a night. A truly unique theatrical experience that injected the short attention span of television viewing into a musical. Boxed Up creatively collaborated with close to 50 artists across a multitude of mediums to fully produce a site specific original musical set in Sacramento.
