Leonardo Suarez-Paz returned to Lincoln Center this July with a special rendition of his award-winning program, PIAZZOLLA100 in a sold-out program, which lead the audience on an immersive journey through the history of tango, charting its golden age in the 1940s and 1950s to the present-day nuevo tango renaissance.
Leonardo Suarez-Paz is a multiple Latin Grammy Award nominee and a fourth-generation tango musician, singer, dancer and composer, who was mentored by Astor Piazzolla, the Argentine-born and New York raised composer who revolutionized tango. Today, Leonardo combines his vast experience across tango, classical and jazz genres to lead Nuevo Tango Arts and the internationally renowned projects including Cuartetango string quartet, Cuartetango Music & Dance, Romance de Tango and Nuevo Tango Ballet, which he co-directs with wife and dance partner, Olga Suarez-Paz who led the pre-concert tango class along with members of Nuevo Tango Ballet.
PIAZZOLLA100 continues its US concerts with “El Nuevo Tango,” a genre-redefining show which blends music, dance, and multimedia to share the real stories of nuevo tango, from its past to the possibilities it offers as language that unites us across cultures. Don’t miss it at the Paramount Hudson Valley Theater in Peekskill, NY on September 26th.
