Yorktown Stage's November production of "The Wizard of Oz" will be holding auditions by appointment only at the theater at 1974 Commerce Street on Sept. 13 and 14, with callbacks on the 15th.

Here are the particulars:

Audition Dates:
Sept. 13 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Children ONLY
Children age 7 - 11
Prepare to stay for 1 hour to sing, dance and read. No preparation necessary.
Children will learn and sing "Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead"

Sept. 13 from 3 - 6 p.m. - Lead and Ensemble Roles ONLY

Sept. 14 from 7 - 10 p.m. Lead and Ensemble Roles ONLY
Lead and Ensemble Roles (Men, Women & Children, aged 12 - adult)
Prepare to stay for 1 hour and to sing, dance and read. Preparation described below.
Dorothys should prepare to sing "Over The Rainbow" in B flat.
Traditional musical theatre songs only - no pop/rock

Callback Date:
Sept. 15 from 6 - 10 p.m.

Performance Dates:
Saturdays, November 14, 21, 28 @ 7 pm
Sundays, November 15, 22, 29 @ 2 pm
Friday, November 27 @ 2 PM
Saturday, November 28 @ 2 PM

Rehearsal Dates: (All Actors are not called every day)
Commence October 4. Weekdays 7-10 pm. Weekends 11-7 pm.

Audition requirements:
• Bring sheet music in the appropriate key. (No music needed if singing from the show.)
• Be prepared to sing 16 bars (possibly more). An accompanist is provided.
• Bring headshot (or small non-returnable photograph).
• Bring resume (list of experience is acceptable).
• Non-professionals must be able to speak loudly and clearly.

THE WIZARD OF OZ CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
Dorothy Gale: 18+ to play 14-16, young and determined to find her place in the world, G below middle C-F with a legit sound, singer who moves well, must not be allergic to dogs.

Hunk/Scarecrow: male, 17-35, singer-dancer, should be strong, physical comedian, honest quality, sympathetic and optimistic friend, lovable and clumsy, strong baritone to F.

Hickory/Tinman: male, 17-40, singer-dancer, tall, angular, must be prepared to wear silver face makeup, must be physically fit, strong baritone to G.

Zeke/Cowardly Lion: male, 30-45, singer who moves well, cuddly actor with excellent comic timing, strong baritone to F.

Mrs. Gultch/Wicked Witch: female, 40-50, tall, angular, mature, no singing required.

Aunt Em: female, 40-60, motherly character actress, no singing required.

Glinda: female, 40-50, singer, more mature, strong, motherly character actress, low G to C above middle C.

Uncle Henry: male, 40-50, strong character actor, good comedic skills, no singing required.

Marvel/Guard/Oz: male, 40+, strong character actor, older father figure with an eccentric theatrical flair, basic conjuring or sleight of hand a plus, strong baritone to F.

Male Dancer/Singer Ensemble: 12+, strong all-around performers to play various characters in Munchkinland and the Land of Oz, seeKing Strong singers who move well, especially seeking tenors, all types and heights encouraged to attend.

Female Dancer/Singer Ensemble: 12+, strong all-around performers to play various characters in Munchkinland and the Land of Oz, seeKing Strong singers with legit musical theatre sound, who move well and strong dancers who sing, strong soprano to high B a plus, all types and heights encouraged to attend.

Pit Singers: Strong choral singers with legit musical theater sound, strong readers, and skilled at singing in harmony, sopranos up to high B+ a plus.
