WPPAC's Nakd Stage Play Reading to Continue with William Inge's BUS STOP, 2/6

By:

The White Plains Performing Arts Center play reading series of classic, TONY honored Best Plays continues with this months' reading of William Inge's BUS STOP on Friday, February 6 at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $10 each. The Nakd Stage Play Reading Series features actors with scripts in hand, no sets, costumes or props. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE WORDS.

In the middle of a howling snowstorm, a bus out of Kansas City pulls up at a small roadside diner. All roads are blocked, and four or five weary travelers have to take refuge until morning. Cherie, a nightclub singer, has the most to worry about. She's being pursued by ?a young cowboy with all the romantic finesse of a rodeo bull. The belligerent cowhand is right behind her, ready to sling her over his shoulder and carry her, alive and kicking, all the way to Montana. As a counterpoint to the main romance, the proprietor of the cafe and the bus driver at last find time to develop a friendship of their own; a middle-age scholar comes to terms with himself; and a young girl who works in the cafe also gets her first taste of romance.

The cast includes Jorge Acosta, Tom Ammirato, Scott Bierko, Tom Coppola, Jenny Kawa, Lexy Picchiarallo, Merry Thomas, and Anthony Valbiro. This staged reading of Bus Stop is directed by Jeff Raab.

Join us as we rekindle memories of great, award-winning plays and focus on the powerful words and intentions of amazing playwrights. The next reading will be Tennessee William's Cat on a Hot Tin Roof on Friday, March 6.

The performances are at the White Plains theatre, located on the third level of City Center off Mamaroneck Avenue in downtown White Plains.
