White Plains Performing Arts Center presents a reading of a new comedy as part of the inaugural PAGE TO STAGE reading series. Join us on Saturday, February 21 at 7:00 pm for How To Kill Your Mother Without Really Trying (a comedy by a resentful son) Part 1-A, written by Steve Bluestein with special guest star Debra Jo Rupp (TV's The 70's Show).

"What could possibly go wrong when a gay man invites his mother to dinner? How about everything. The mother has a near death experience and is too ill to move... so she's stuck on the boy's sofa. And when I say boys, I mean the gay man and his lover. If that's not bad enough the mother's sister comes to visit and the calamity doubles. This laugh out loud comedy explores relationships, New York City living and much much more. Come prepared to laugh, you won't be disappointed."

The cast features the talents of Ivy Austin, Mark Boyett, Andrew Martin, Blair Sams, Isabel West, Frank Vlastnik with special guest Debra Jo Rupp (from TV's That 70's Show). The reading is directed by Ivy Austin and Steve Bluestein and produced by Glen Kinnaird.

Doing stand up comedy for years, Steve Bluestein has finally come into his own as a playwright and author. His first the play, "Rest, In Pieces" was produced at The Delaware Theater Company to rave reviews and sold out houses. "How To Kill Your Mother Without Really Trying (a comedy by a resentful son) Part 1-A" is his first full length laugh out loud comedy.

Steve has just published his first book; IT'S SO HARD TO TYPE WITH A GUN IN MY MOUTH. If you've ever been put on hold for 30 minutes, if you've ever had to deal with tech support in India, if your dog ever threw up on your new sofa... this book is for you. It's a hilarious look at the insane life of one of America's funniest comedians. The book is a collection of short stories and essays about life, love, comedy, show business and overcoming a difficult childhood. It's a feel good piece that makes the reader laugh and cry.
