Theatre Now New York's CARRIE THE MUSICAL Begins Tonight in Irvington

By: Oct. 30, 2015

Theatre Now New York, a professional theatre company, presents CARRIE, The Musical premiering at the Irvington Town Hall Theater, 85 Main Street, Irvington, NY. Performances for CARRIE, The Musical will run from tonight, October 30th through November 7th. For show and ticket information, visit www.tnny.org or call their box office toll free at 855-254-7469.

The musical is centered around misfit Carrie White and is based on the Stephen King novel. Carrie White is a teenage outcast who's taunted by bullies at school and condemned by an overly pious mother at home. Carrie discovers she has a special power and when pushed too far at her prom, all hell breaks loose making it a night no one will ever forget.

This will be Theatre Now's first full scale production in Westchester County where they hope to make a permanent home producing top-notch plays and musicals throughout the year. The cast will be a combination of professional actors as well as non-professionals some of whom are college-age interns and others who are local area community members.

"It's a great opportunity to have a professional theatre company where members from the community can work side by side with seasoned veterans" says Artistic Director, Thomas Morrissey. He added "It is very important for us to also be a part of the community in this way."

Volunteer opportunities also exist within the company from helping out back stage to ushering, and even enlisting the help and support of local area residents to do a few community 'pot luck' dinners for the cast. If you'd like to be involved in any of the many offstage opportunities, email emily@tnny.org or call 212-845-9824 ext. 803 for more information about volunteering.

Theatre Now New York is a professional theatre company whose history originates with two established companies -- the Genesius Theatre Guild in NewYork City and ReVision Theatre in Asbury Park, NJ. Theatre Now New York brings together the founding principles of both these companies: developmental work and main stage theatrical productions. Theatre Now New York's mission is to facilitate the creation and development of new theatrical works, the re-imagining of previously produced known titles and the reinterpretation of classic works through readings, workshops, work-in-progress presentations and full productions, and to promote the understanding and appreciation of live theatre and its process by the general public. TNNY provides various opportunities for emerging, mid-career, and established theatre professionals in their ongoing creative process. TNNY produces the annual 10-minute musical theatre festival SOUND BITES to seek out and cultivate new writers and composers and develop new musicals.
