South Salem Theater Presents DISGRACED
DISGRACED, Ayad Akhtar's powerful Pulitzer Prize-winning drama opens on Friday, May 18 at the South Salem Theater. In addition to the Pulitzer, Disgraced won a 2013 Obie for Playwriting and was nominated for a Tony for Best Play in 2015. The critically acclaimed play is directed by Sherry Asch and features Dawn Brown-Berenson, Jessie Gilbert, Levi Joseph Green, Ethan Karas and John Squires.
Terrorism, race and religion are just some of the issues that swirl through the Upper East Side apartment of a Pakistani-American lawyer who attempts to distance himself from his heritage in a post 9/11 New York. His conflicting emotions, allegiances and prejudices collide with those of his family and colleagues-with devastating consequences.
DISGRACED runs for four performances only: Friday and Saturday, May 18 & 19, 25 & 26 at 8 pm. Tickets available at southsalemtheater.org and brownpapertickets.com are $20 online, $25 at the door. Recommended for mature audiences. South Salem Theater is located at 82 Spring Street (at St. John's), 914 763-8273.
