Rhinebeck Writers Retreat Accepting Applications For Summer 2015

Kathy Evans, Founding Executive Director of Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, announced that applications are open for the fifth summer of retreats for musical theatre writers and are due February 23. Rhinebeck Writers Retreat will host 8 writing teams with 8 individual weeklong residencies in a private home in the countryside near Rhinebeck, New York. The retreats will take place between June 28 and August 30. Applications are due February 23 and the submission fee is $25. Both established and early career writers are eligible and the submitted musical can be at any stage of development, as long as it has not been published or licensed. Selected writers will pay nothing to participate and receive a $400 stipend. There are a limited number of travel grants up to $500 available for writers living outside of New York City. Past Rhinebeck writers include Stew and Heidi Rodewald, Family Album; Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk, Unbound; Duncan Sheik and Kyle Jarrow, Noir; Joe Iconis, Lance Rubin, and Jason "SweetTooth" Williams, Annie Golden: Bounty Hunter, Yo!; Laura Eason, Jenny Giering, and Sean Barry, Summerland; Alex Timbers and Michael Friedman, Love's Labour's Lost; Janet Allard and Niko Tsakalakos, Alexander Supertramp; and Michael Kooman and Chris Dimond, The Noteworthy of Howard Barnes.

Created in 2011, Rhinebeck Writers Retreat provides a sanctuary for writers to do nothing but write their new musicals in the heart of the Hudson Valley.
