LaChanze Joins WPPAC Board of Directors

By:

It was with great pride that twice Tony winner LaChanze Fordjour applied to the Board of Directors at White Plains Performing Arts Center, and with good reason: WPPAC has set out to be a gamechanger in the theatrical community. On Monday (11/15), 7:30pm, at WPPAC, LaChanze will present a public reading of REUNION IN BARTERSVILLE, as producer. Press Notes for the show indicate: REUNION IN BARTERSVILLE- The 1933 Class of Bartersville High reunites after 50 years...Good Times, Old Friends and Murder? A hilarious whodunnit in two acts.

REUNION IN BARTERSVILLE launches 'First Look' at WPPAC, a free of cost, open to the public reading series. WPPAC, the 400+ seat Lort-D Theatre in Westchester County, now in its relaunch year, has been making significant strides to not only increase arts awareness, but to give back to the community by branding itself as a cornerstone of business development in the Hudson Valley

area. "There are so many reasons", says Broadway Producer Christopher Massimine, a representative of the mainstage season, "creating new exciting and thought-provoking theatre is just one part of it. What we set out to do is ultimately come together with the community in such a united way to help prompt a boom in the surrounding economics. There was a Golden Era, we often forget, wherein theatre was such an integrate part of daily commerce. It still very much has that potential if harnessed with sincere labors and an altruistic spirit".

The tremendous success of the world-premiere of Wallenberg, running until the 22nd of the month, has put WPPAC back on the map. The restructured WPPAC maintains proactive educational outreach, ongoing community development effots, a conversations series held by theatrical icons (most recently, Tom Kitt, Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner NEXT TO NORMAL), an open reading series, and a student conservatory program.
