ANNIE Creator Martin Charnin Comes to WPPAC for 'CREATING BROADWAY', 9/8
Martin Charnin, creator of ANNIE, comes to the White Plains Performing Arts Center for "Creating Broadway: The Composers" on Monday, September 8 at 8 p.m.
Tony-winning lyricist Martin Charnin, will demonstrate song technique with 4-6 performers while we learn by observation. This lecture-style class will provide techniques for rounding out songs for performance or audition. Master Class performers will be selected, by audition, from ticket buyers at no additional fee. Performers must be 14 or older to audition; all ages are welcome to observe. For information regarding auditions, contact education@wppac.com.
Charnin has been a director, lyricist, composer, librettist, producer or a combination thereof for over 85 theatrical productions. He is best known for his work as the conceiver, director and lyricist of the Tony Award-winning musical, Annie and its sequel, Annie Warbucks. During his extensive career, Charnin has received four Tony nominations, one Tony Award, seven Grammy Awards, three Emmy Awards, three Gold records, two Platinum records, six Drama Desk Awards and a Peabody Award for Broadcasting.
The Creating Broadway Series from the WPPAC Conservatory Theatre, is bringing to its White Plains' stage top-notch Broadway artists showcasing the talents that got them to the Great White Way. The series will be presented in the form of concerts, master classes, lectures and workshops. Whether participating or observing, these events promise to be amazing opportunities for teaching and learning for theatre enthusiasts and professionals of all levels.
