On the third Wednesday of each month, the Underground Railroad Café & Gallery transforms into a hub of creativity and literary exploration with The GRIOT’s CORNER. Part open mic, part workshop, this unique event welcomes poets, essayists, short-story writers, storytellers, rappers, and playwrights to share their work, receive constructive feedback, and engage with a vibrant community of fellow writers.
Led by Mwalim, a multi-award-winning and published author, poet, playwright, essayist, songwriter, and tenured professor of English, Communications, and Black Studies at UMass Dartmouth, The GRIOT’s CORNER offers a rare space for writers of all backgrounds and experience levels to hone their craft in a supportive, dynamic environment. Whether you're looking to refine your latest piece, gain fresh perspectives, or simply be inspired by the powerful words of others, this event is a must-attend for lovers of storytelling and the written word.
The next two sessions will be on March 19th and April 16th at 7 PM. Join us for an evening of expression, connection, and creative growth—because every story deserves to be heard.
