Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Symphony To Perform With RI Philharmonic Orchestra At THE VETS, Today

The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Symphony Orchestra (RIPYO) performs on stage with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra in their annual Side-by-Side concert on Friday, February 17 at 6:30pm at The VETS in Providence, as part of the evening's AMICA Rush Hour program. The concert, conducted by Music Director Larry Rachleff, features the top-level RIPYO Symphony Orchestra, led by Youth Orchestra Director and Philharmonic Orchestra violinist Alexey Shabalin, performing the final movements of Stravinsky's Firebird Suite. Also on the evening's program is Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 (Eroica).

The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Ensembles (RIPYO, RIPYWE, RIPYJazz, & Chamber) provides quality rehearsal and performance experience for talented young musicians from Rhode Island and nearby Connecticut and Massachusetts. Students range in grade from elementary school through high school.

The Philharmonic Music School serves students of all ages and ability levels, and provides instruction in all kinds of music, from jazz and rock to classical and folk, through private lessons, chamber music classes, and large and small ensembles. The majority of Philharmonic Music School programs take place at the state-of-the-art Carter Center in East Providence. Completed in 2008, the Carter Center is the largest dedicated community music school facility in New England. We also offer lessons in a welcoming, well-equipped environment at our East Greenwich branch.
