Brown/Trinity Rep M.F.A. Programs Present JEDERMANN, 5/5

Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Programs present a free outdoor performance of Jedermann, one performance only, May 5th at Ship Street Square in Providence.

Students from the Brown/Trinity Rep MFA programs will perform selections from Hugo von Hofmannsthal's adaptation of Jedermann, at Ship Street Square on the corner of Richmond Street in Providence, RI on Sunday, May 5 at 6:30pm. Come experience this unique work-in-progress as director Brian Mertes experiments with a fearless group of students in preparation for co-directing Jedermann with Julian Crouch at the renowned Salzburg Festival, 2013. Be sure to bring your lawn chairs, as seating is limited.

Brian Mertes is a director whose body of work spans theater, television and film. Mertes has directed the world premiere of many new plays, most recently David Greenspan's The Myopia for the Foundry Theater at the Atlantic and Jose Rivera's Massacre at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater in NYC. He has taught directing for the Columbia and NYU film programs, and has been a guest director at North Carolina School of the Arts, SUNY Purchase, NYU Grad, UT Austin, and Yale. Mertes has directed television for ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox, garnering three Emmy and three DGA nominations, and an Emmy for directing.

The Brown University/Trinity Rep MFA Programs provide a three-year professional training program for eighteen students under the auspices of an Ivy League University and Rhode Island's Tony Award-winning theater company. Brown University's Department of Theatre Arts and Performance Studies is internationally recognized for the quality of its faculty and instruction. Trinity Rep, with its deep tradition of resident artists, provides powerful artistic assets and creates a firm foundation for a new generation of theater artists.
