First up for Theatre Raleigh as part of the Hot Summer Nights season is the unnervingly funny Vanities, The Musical, today, May 14th - 25th, 2014. Artistic Director, Lauren Kennedy and Managing Director, Michele Weathers have outdone themselves bringing this witty musical to theatre fans with their personal touch. Appropriate for ages 16+ (due to subject matter and language)

"I am so excited to be opening this 10th Anniversary season with Vanities! A show that is incredibly personal to me after having starred in the Off-Broadway Production. It has just been published through Samuel French, and we are the first theatre to license the show. We literally got the script and score HOT off the presses." said Lauren Kennedy, Artistic Director for Theatre Raleigh.

Based on the award-wining play, Vanities, The Musical is the story of three best friends played by Meredith Jones* (Mary), Morgan Parpan (Kathy) and Kate McMillan* (Joanne) and their journey through high school, college, and their professional life, remembering the ups and downs of their 40 year friendship. Director and Choreographer, Lauren Kennedy brings Jack Heifner book to life. Music and Lyrics by David Kirshenbaum.

The shows creative team includes Thomas Mauney (Scenic Design), Jay Wright (Music Director),Eric Collins (Sound Design) Chris Bernier (Lighting Design), Liz Ray (Stage Manager /Associate Director ), Denise Schumaker (Costume Designer) , and Edie Weichert (Property Design) . Other production staff includes Rachel Pottern (ASM), Katy Koop (Props Asst.), Kat Frohelic (Wardrobe Supervisor), Maigan Kennedy (Company Manager), Stevan Dupor and Joe Gruin (Sound), Rosemary Richards, Wendy Brown and Morgan Ellis (Technical Assistants).
