Theatre In The Park Announces 2013-2014 Season

Simply The Best - this is what Theatre In The Park is calling the 2013-2014 Season as three of their most popular and requested shows, a world premiere, and a new "Second Series" makes its way on the stage all leading up to the 40th Anniversary of A Christmas Carol in December, 2014.

Opening the season will be the new Second Series - special productions and events not part of the Mainstage Season Membership, but offered to Season Members at a significant discount. Psycho Beach Party makes its way to the Theatre In The Park stage July 26 - August 4, 2013. Come join the fun in the sun and sand as beach party epics and Hitchcock thrillers are given a shotgun marriage in this high camp spoof of beach movies. In December, Second Series continues with The Santaland Diaries December 12-15, 2013. Crumpet the Elf relives his brief stint as an elf at Macy's "SantaLand" attraction and the raucous adults and children who come to sit on St. Nick's Lap.

Theatre In The Park is also happy to present its own holiday classic this December. Ira David Wood III's musical comedy adaptation of A Christmas Carol, celebrates 39 continuous years on stage. Performances are December 12 -15 at the Duke Energy Center's Memorial Auditorium in Raleigh and December 19 -22 at the Durham Performing Arts Center.

Winter is coming. Named one of the best shows of the decade, The Lion In Winter, by James Goldman, will open the Mainstage Season February 14-March 2, 2014. Ira David Wood III and Lynda Clark return as the manipulating Henry and Eleanor in this ultimate game of thrones.

Next, Theatre In The Park's most requested show returns! Pageant, the musical comedy beauty pageant spoof, will once again bring glamour and excitement to RaleighApril 25 - May 11, 2014. These queens have it all, including that little something extra.

Direct from Roe-Upon-Toast, England, the South Hampton Institute of Theatre players bring four of their best known one act plays to Theatre In The Park as part of the 2014 North American Tour of Michael Green's The Coarse Acting Show, July 11-27, 2014. A definite treat!

The season will close out with the World Premiere of Adrienne Earl Pender's Somewhere In Between September 12-28, 2014. McKenna, reeling from the recent death of her husband, struggles to pick up the pieces of her shattered life. It is the arrival of a stranger with a secret who seems to be the only one she can connect with.
