The North Carolina Symphony's NCS Kids series presents "Peter and the Wolf" this weekend as part of its Young People's Concerts at Meymandi Concert Hall in downtown Raleigh's Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts. The performances take place on Saturday, March 12, at 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Associate Conductor Sarah Hicks and the Symphony join forces with the Triangle Youth Ballet and North Carolina Theatre to bring Prokofiev's timeless story of bravery and teamwork to life on stage through playful music, colorful costumes and a beautiful display of dance and theater. The one-hour concert lineup also includes works inspired by classic storybook characters, including Huckleberry Finn and Cinderella. Audiences of all ages will delight in this perfect introduction to the orchestra.

Arrive up to an hour before the concerts and kids can try out the instruments for themselves in the Symphony's popular Instrument Zoo. Ebony Anderson and her team of artists from Ebony Child will also be on hand for face painting.

Learn more about the concert and all the wonderful online opportunities for children to learn about and engage in orchestral music at the Symphony's NCS Kids page: www.ncsymphony.org/kids.

Regular tickets to the NCS Kids Young People's Concert "Peter and the Wolf" on Saturday, March 12, are $20. Meymandi Concert Hall is located in the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts, 2 E. South St., in Raleigh.
