MANHATTA Opens at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, 4/1

 The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will present the world premiere of Manahatta by Mary Kathryn Nagle, directed by Laurie Woolery, on April 1, 2018, in the Thomas Theatre. Preview performances are March 28, 30 and 31, and the play runs through Oct. 27.

As a woman, a musician, a writer/illustrator, and a single mother, Block faced her share of setbacks and naysayers. Now in her 60s, she's back once again to prove the naysayers wrong and show that Baby Boomers still have plenty to say with her new solo show, DRAMA OF THE GIFTED GROWNUP: A MUSICAL JOURNEY. The show, which combines Block's music, writing, and visual art, starts a three-city tour in Portland on Thursday.

The play is directed by Luan Schooler, Artists Rep's Director of New Play Development & Dramaturgy. The Thanksgiving Play is the second commission of the theatre's Table|Room|Stage new play development program to receive its World Premiere at Artists Rep.

DeLanna Studi's powerful memoir play And So We Walked: An Artist's Journey Along the Trail of Tears begins preview performances on March 31, opens on April 6, and runs through May 13 in The Armory's Ellyn Bye Studio. Studi returns to The Armory to perform this solo show after a triumphant run as Marie Dorion, Sarah Astor and other roles in the two-year engagement of Astoria: Part One and Astoria: Part Two. Corey Madden, the executive director of the Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, has been involved in the development of And So We Walked since initial research began in 2014 and comes to Portland to direct the production.
Agatha Christie's THE MOUSETRAP An Immersive Mystery Extended To 3/25

Experience Theatre Project, Beaverton's resident professional theatre company, is extending its run of its fully immersive production of Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap at the Cady Building in historic downtown Beaverton, located at 12604 SW Farmington Road. The play opened February 16, will now extend its run through March 25. Tickets $29-$42 for purchase at ETP's website at www.experiencetheatreproject.org. Due to the intimate nature of this immersive show, only 35 tickets will be available per show. Shows run Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm.

NW Children's Theater & School Ends Effort To Purchase Historic Home

As of Thursday, February 15th, 2018, the Board of NW Children's Theater & School has reluctantly decided that NWCT will no longer pursue a plan to purchase and restore the historic NW Neighborhood Cultural Center. Effectively immediately, NWCT is ceasing all efforts to negotiate a purchase of the building and is halting all work on a rehabilitation plan. The Board will immediately turn its attention to finding and securing a new home for the Children's Theater.
Bill Rauch To Leave OSF In 2019 To Lead NYC's Perelman Center
