“Let’s dance to Bach”, said Krzysztof Pastor, Choreographer and director of the Polish National Ballet, in 2010 and thus proposed a unique choreographic quartet. Concerto Barocco by the legendary George Balanchine is a classic of classics combining the abstraction of dance with the abstraction of sound (Concerto in D Minor for two violins). The Green by Dutchman Ed Wubbe tries to measure up to the chorale prelude to St John Passion – and succeeds. Kisses by Emil Weso?owski (to Harpsichord Concerto in D Minor) combines sensuality of gesture with attractive imagery. Finally, there is Pastor’s In Light and Shadow (to the music of the aria from The Goldberg Variations and Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D
Major) – a ballet already applauded in Amsterdam, Stockholm,
Glasgow, Hong Kong, Edinburgh, London, and at last in Warsaw.
