City Theatre presents a co-world premiere of Malcolm X and Redd Foxx Washing Dishes at Jimmy's Chicken Shack in Harlem, written by Jonathan Norton and directed by Dexter J. Singleton. Set in 1943, the play explores the formative friendship between a young Redd Foxx, portrayed by Trey Smith-Mills, and Malcolm X, known as Little, played by Edwin Green, as they navigate life while working in a Harlem diner. Through a blend of humor and poignant moments, the narrative reveals how the pair influences each other's paths toward becoming iconic figures. The production runs from January 17 to February 8, 2026.
