Young Performers Shine as Pittsburgh CLO Mini Stars

Pittsburgh CLO is pleased to announce that 17 local young performers have been chosen to star as the 2010-2011 Pittsburgh CLO Mini Stars. These talented youngsters have participated in numerous productions for Pittsburgh CLO, Pittsburgh Opera, the Pittsburgh Playhouse, Pittsburgh Playwrights Theater and the Pittsburgh Public Theater.

About the Pittsburgh CLO Mini Stars
Created in 1981, the CLO Mini Stars perform full-scale, dazzling, high-energy revues of Broadway's most memorable moments for private and public events throughout the region. In addition, the Mini Stars have been featured performers at Governor Ed Rendell's Inauguration, Walt Disney World's Epcot Center and in numerous CLO productions including Disney's High School Musical, Peter Pan, Annie, The Music Man, The Wizard of Oz, Carousel, The Sound of Music, Oliver!, A Musical Christmas Carol, and The Gene Kelly Awards. Former Mini Stars have gone on to pursue professional performing careers on Broadway in such shows as 42nd Street, Lestat, Assassins, A Chorus Line, Contact, Swing, Gypsy, and Bombay Dreams. Support for the CLO Mini Stars is provided by the Pittsburgh CLO Guild.

The CLO Mini Stars have begun preparations for their annual Summer Show, which will be performed throughout the region, this summer. This dazzling revue will feature songs from Pittsburgh CLO's 2011 Summer Season including "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music, "This is the Moment" from Jekyll & Hyde and "Everything's Alright" from Jesus Christ Superstar.

In addition to their annual Summer Show, the Mini Stars perform their dazzling Holiday Spectacular at numerous events across the region, including appearances at the Pittsburgh Children's Museum, the Byham Theater, Pittsburgh Opera, and numerous country clubs and private parties this holiday season. Recently, the CLO Mini Stars performed a flash mob at the Heinz History Center to celebrate the closing of the Vatican Splendors exhibit.
