The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Education and Community Engagement Department has announced a series of workshops in December. The workshops will be held in The Pittsburgh Trust Arts Education Center located in the James E. Rohr Building at 805/807 Liberty Avenue. Registration is required. How To Toon: Cartooning Workshop
December 12, 11am-1pm
$25, includes materials
Ages: Children & adults of all ages

Teaching Artist: Joe Wos, Executive Director, Toonseum
Join Joe Wos, ToonSeum, to learn the basics of cartooning. From line drawing to telling stories with images, How To Toon covers the fundamental skills, techniques and themes to create cartoon characters. Joe Wos was the first resident cartoonist of the Charles M. Schulz Museum, and is Founder/Executive Director of ToonSeum. He has been a cartooning instructor for over 20 years. Workshop includes a visit to the ToonSeum in the Cultural District, one of only three museums of cartoon art in the nation.

Create imaginary creatures for the First Night Pittsburgh Parade! Join Cheryl Capezzuti as we get messy and make some great big puppets. If you like making puppets, you'll LOVE parading them on New Year's Eve.

Jewelry-making: Swarovski RAW Bracelet

Make a sparkling bracelet for the holidays. Create and give a unique handmade gift. Learn the basic right angle weave to make your own bracelet using Swarovski pearls and crystals. A great project for beginners, as well as for more experienced beaders looking to expand their repertoire of stitches. This bracelet is fun to make and once you learn the technique, you can make several variations.

Learn to make quick and easy books for personalized stocking stuffers. Use them as photo albums and journals, write your favorite poems in them, or give them as gifts. Decorate with an origami star book.
