Her Hamlet kicks off an exciting line-up for the University of Pittsburgh Repertory Theatre. Her Hamlet, devised by Lisa Jackson-Schebetta and Theo Allyn and directed by Lisa Jackson-Schebetta, will play Henry Heymann Theatre, Stephen Foster Memorial, 4200 Fifth Ave, tonight, October 4, 2012 – October 13, 2012, Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8PM and Sunday Matinees at 2PM. Call 412-624-PLAY or visit www.play.pitt.edu for tickets and more information.

Judith, Shakespeare's youngest daughter, is haunted by the ghosts of her father's characters. Accompanied by her faithful sidekick, Yorick, Jude seeks to uncover the hidden threads connecting her to the women of Hamlet. On the way, she discovers lovers, warriors, dreamers, artists, and perhaps a startling truth about herself. Produced in collaboration with Shakespeare-in-the-Schools, Her Hamlet is a one-woman spectacular featuring live, original music composed by Robert Frankenberry.

Lisa Jackson-Schebetta – director of last year's smash hit Sweeney Todd – returns to direct this radical reinterpretation of Shakespeare's classic, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark. Lisa has directed and devised works for the American Globe Theatre and The Women's Project and Productions, among others. For Her Hamlet, Lisa has teamed up with Theo Allyn, a well-known in the Pittsburgh theatre circuit for her performances with Bricolage, City Theatre, and Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre, among others.

Robert Frankenberry will both compose and perform the original music for Her Hamlet. Robert leads a multi-faceted career as a tenor, pianist and conductor. His credits include performances in Pittsburgh, New York and Chicago in the capacity of music director, vocal recitalist, assistant conductor and pianist.

The season continues in November with Compleat Female Stage Beauty, a tale of scandal and revenge. February features a whimsical new "musical fairy tale" – Zanna, Don't – set in a Midwestern American town that's both utterly familiar and completely foreign. Our season concludes in April with City of Asylum, an original work devised in conjunction with the City of Asylum/Pittsburgh project which offers shelter for exiled artists.

The University of Pittsburgh's Department of Theatre Arts offers BA, MA, MFA and PhD degrees in Theatre Arts. All faculty members are active in teaching, research, and artistic projects. For more information about the University of Pittsburgh Repertory Theatre, visit www.play.pitt.edu
