Celtic Nights' THE EMIGRANTS BRIDGE Set for Byham Theater, 3/6
The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announced, direct from Ireland, Celtic Nights The Emigrants Bridge, a journey of hope and promise, will perform at the Byham Theater on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices start at $25. Through music, song and dance inspired from the rich heritage and culture of both homelands, Celtic Nights' The Emigrants Bridge weaves a tale about the people of Ireland and their journeys from their native land to America. Celtic Nights ensemble features some of Ireland's most talented singers, international dancers and fine musicians. New York Metro praised the group for,"stretching the versatility of Irish Dance to its limits."
Music for The Emigrants Bridge is crafted from the sounds of America?Bluegrass, Appalachian, Country and Western, and early ballads from the American Civil War; as well from Celtic heritage?old and new. The foot tapping percussive sounds of jigs and reels, hornpipes and polkas will entertain audiences of all ages. The performance promises to bring together the artists and the audience, providing an opportunity to continue forging friendships and respect among cultures. Celtic Nights has been recognized by Ireland's Prime Minister Enda Kenny for its outstanding artistry and dedication to preserving Irish heritage.Michael Durkan is the producer and director of Celtic Nights The Emigrants Bridge. Since 1999, Mr. Durkan's Irish themed productions have been enjoyed by audiences around the world. His first touring production, Gaelforce Dance, received rave reviews. "A perfect mix of traditional and contemporary Irish pieces, Gaelforce takes the audience right to the edge of this ancient art form." ?London Times Durkan is a multi-instrumentalist and started his professional career in Dublin, playing and singing in the many great venues throughout Ireland. Taking inspiration from his Irish heritage, Durkan has recorded several solo albums and performed around the world both as a founding member/performer of the Irish Drovers and in his solo career.
