CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES at Byham Theater Runs 9/26-27

The heartwarming and hilarious CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES come to the Byham Theater on Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27, 2009. Set in rural Minnesota circa 1964, this musical comedy features four Lutheran ladies working in their church basement kitchen and the highs and lows that come along with the job. From the funeral of a dear friend to the HawaiIan Easter Fund Raiser, the ladies' devotion never falters as they share recipes, instruct the young, and keep the Pastor on due course in what the Minneapolis Star Tribune calls a "wickedly funny" show. The Pittsburgh cast includes MASH's former Lt. Mulcahy, William Christopher, starring as Pastor E.L Gunderson, with Jean Liuzzi, Karen Pappas, Katherine Proctor and Jessica Taige as the ministry's madams. CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES is a part of the Trust Presents series sponsored by Cohen & Grigsby.

Hailed as "the stuff of legend" by the Star Tribune, CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES has been adapted from the writings of Scandinavian authors/humorists Janet Letnes-Martin and Suzann Nelson whose national, best-selling book, "Growing Up Lutheran," won the Minnesota Book Award for Humor in 1998. CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES' script is developed by the husband and wife duo of Jim Stowell and Jessica Zuehlke with music by composer/songwriter Drew Jansen. The production is brought to Pittsburgh by producers Curt Wollan and Art Fegan via the Twin-Cities based Production Company Troupe America, Inc.
