WRITE NOW 2019 Now Accepting Submissions!
By: A.A. Cristi

The Write Now Festival is now accepting scripts for its Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) playwriting competition. Finalists will receive cash prizes and a weeklong workshop with teams of professional directors and dramaturges drawn from around the country. The works will then be presented in rehearsed readings at Write Now 2019, which will be hosted by Childsplay and held February 14-17, 2019 in Tempe, Ariz.
The Write Now 2019 competition is open to adult playwrights who are currents residents of the U.S., aged 18 and over, and who have a full-length script for audiences aged 2-14 that has not been professionally produced. Scripts can be submitted at www.writenow.co. The deadline for submissions is May 31, 2018. Write Now is a national effort to advocate for playwrights and promote the development of new work for young audiences. Every other year, Write Now hosts the TYA playwriting competition. The purpose of this biennial event is to encourage writers to create strikingly original scripts for young audiences. The competition provides a forum through which each playwright receives constructive criticism from peer reviewers.
