Prescott Fine Arts Association Presents Young Playwrights Festival
The Prescott Fine Arts Association is currently accepting submission for the First Annual Young Playwrights Festival, a playwriting competition for Prescott area (Quad Cities) K-12 students. Winning plays will be performed on March 6th in an all-day festival celebrating creativity through dramatic writing at the Boys and Girls Club of Prescott.
Plays should not exceed 15 pages in length and must use family-friendly language. For additional information or to submit a play, visit the PFAA website at www.pfaa.net, and click on the Young Playwrights Festival tab under "Education". Deadline for submissions is Friday, November 19.
About the Festival:
Designed with the intention of encouraging literacy and the arts, the YPF is the result of months of planning by Jon Meyer, PFAA Executive Director, and Tiffany Antone, Education Coordinator/Volunteer. The playwriting competition will inspire students to tap into their imaginations as they write their own short plays.
Members of the PFAA community will read scripts and select winning plays at each grade level. First place scripts will be performed at the festival, where awards will be given to the top three playwrights in each grade.
Plays may be submitted online at www.pfaa.net, where submission rules and more information can also be found.
The Young Playwrights Festival is sponsored in part by Target Stores and the KPPV/KDDL/KQNA radio group. The Prescott Kiwanis Club will provide volunteers for the Festival on March 6, 2011.
