About the production: This Tony award winning musical thriller, from the incomparable Stephen Sondheim is a murderous tale of barber-ism and culinary crime telling the story of Benjamin Barker, a successful late 19th century London barber with a wife and baby daughter. A crooked judge covets the barber's wife, and on trumped charges has Barker sent to a penal colony. He returns 15 years later to find that his wife, after being discarded by the treacherous judge, has committed suicide, and his daughter is now the ward of the same judge. Barker seeks revenge, but his thirst for blood soon expands to include his unfortunate customers, while the resourceful proprietress of the pie shop downstairs soon has the people of London lining up in droves with her mysterious new meat pie recipe! This chilling, suspenseful musical has a great sense of fun, mixing intense drama with funny moments of dark humor. Be prepared to find yourself laughing hysterically one moment, and gasping in surprise the next. Produced by special arrangement with MUSIC THEATER INTERNATIONAL.
