Edgar Allan Poe To Haunt Downtown Phoenix For Tenth Year

Arizona Curriculum Theater Inc. will be returning to Downtown Phoenix this October to present their 10th Annual Edgar Allan Poe Festival. Theatrical performances, events, and contests are planned throughout the month of October. The festival serves as a fundraiser and Student Writing Competition for the educational non-profit organization.

PoeFest Main Stage features professional actors performing the works of Poe in character as inmates from Poe's fictional Maison de Santé Asylum. Poe's stories and poems rotate nightly and different stories and poems are featured each night. The Main Stage kicks off October 5th and runs every Friday and Saturday night in October at 8:00 PM at the Hotel San Carlos.

PoeFest Séance is a probe of the paranormal and an experiment in the extrasensory. Taking place October 20th and 27th at 10:00 PM at the Hotel San Carlos, PoeFest Séance culminates in an attempt to contact the long-lost soul of Edgar Allan Poe himself. This is an entertainment séance. Any possessions, hauntings, poltergeists, phantoms, specters, or restless spirits are strictly coincidental.

On October 28th and 30th at 7:00 PM, PoeFest goes on the road to Don Bluth Front Row Theatre in Scottsdale. The famous animator and film director opens his theatre once again to PoeFest for the third year in a row. The evening is an extension of PoeFest Main Stage. Poe's short stories and poems will be featured.

On Halloween night October 31st, PoeFest concludes with The Raven at Rosson House Museum. Between 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM, Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven will be performed every 20 minutes inside the restored Eastlake Victorian mansion in Phoenix's Heritage Square. A tour of the lower level of the house is included with admission. Items of Victorian mourning and the vintage doctor's office will be on display.
