In this 90-minute program, celebrated classical pianist Ang Li, selects some of Chopin’s most celebrated compositions for this bi-centennial event. Chopin remains not only as Poland’s greatest composer but perhaps as the most important composer in the history of the piano; he comprehensively utilized the instrument’s capacities for beauty, excitement, variety, and timbral appeal. This program will include Chopin Polonaises, Mazurkas (both Polish dance forms), Waltzes and Ballades. The finale of the program will also include some Chinese folk music. A Steinway Artist, Miss Li belongs to a roster of the most accomplished and discriminating artists in the world.
Steinway Artist Ang Li is ranked among the top classical pianists in the World by The Cliburn Competition (2009) and has appeared at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Ruïnekerk of Bergen in the Netherlands, National Center for the Performing Arts in China and more. In 2013 Miss Li performed solo concerts and recital programs in seven countries. Miss Li’s repertoire includes full length performances of Chopin, Brahms, and Liszt; other frequent concert additions include works by Mozart, Beethoven, Ravel and Schubert. Miss Li is a Steinway Artist.
