Photo Coverage: DANI GIRL Cast Visits Cancer-stricken Kids; Acclaimed Musical Returns Aug. 10 Manila, Philippines--The cast of DANI GIRL came out to play and comfort the pediatric cancer patients at Child Haus on Tuesday, July 23, 2019.

Child Haus, an institutional partner of the musical DANI GIRL, is a halfway house for cancer-stricken children who require financial support for their treatments.

"This visit is crucial for the cast's character work and dramaturgical research. Apart from that, we wanted to expose them to the realities of pediatric cancer in the country and hopefully inspire them to take concrete action beyond the show," said Sab Jose, marketing and public relations director for The Sandbox Collective.

DANI GIRL, an exhilarating musical created by the writing team of Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond is back. Just like in its Philippine premiere in 2014, this musical reminds us that there's hope amid the world of pain and suffering.

Even more so, DANI GIRL is a celebration of childlike innocence, wonder, imagination, and courage. It also brings to mind that these kinds of traits are often set aside--unfortunately--when adulthood beckons.

In the musical, Dani is a precocious girl who loses her hair to cancer treatment. However, she fights to live and embarks on a magical journey to make her hair grow back. In her imaginary adventures, her teddy bear Mr. Fritz, geeky roommate Marty, and guardian angel Raph are her constant companions.

Theater actors Rebecca Coates and Luigi Quesada are reprising their roles as Dani and Marty, respectively. Felicity Kyle Napuli and Daniel Drilon are their alternates.

Also in the cast are Shiela Valderrama-Martinez and Pam Imperial (alternating as Katherine Lyons), and Lorenz Martinez and Juliene Mendoza (alternating as Raph).

Toff de Venecia returns as the show's executive producer and director. He is also the brains behind The Sandbox Collective, which is presenting the musical in its fifth anniversary.

DANI GIRL plays at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium (4F RCBC Plaza, Ayala Ave. cor. Gil Puyat Ave, Makati City) on the weekends from August 10 to September 1, 2019.
