Strike Up the Band! is a free outdoor performance presented by Tempesta di Mare as part of the Soundtrack of Independence, a series marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The program explores the eclectic military music that marched through Philadelphia's streets between 1775 and 1783, performed by soldiers from the United States, Britain, Germany, and France — ranging from ceremonial marches to opera transcriptions and works by composers such as C.P.E. Bach and Mozart. The performance is curated by Dominic Giardino, who also performs on clarinet, alongside musicians from Music of the Regiment and Tempesta di Mare.
