Kick-off your New Years Eve celebrations with Choral Arts Philadelphias Christmas Vespers from Dresden.Christmas Vespers from Dresden, Heinrich Schtz's Christmas Historia, is a dramatic re-creation of a Christmas Day Vespers Service as it may have occurred in Dresden in the Court Chapel in 1660 with music by Heinrich Schtz (1585 - 1672) and contemporaries.Conducted by Matthew Glandorf, Choral Arts Philadelphia will re-create a rich tapestry of chant, Lutheran chorales, Latin motets and instrumental works that would have all been woven together for the evening worship service on Christmas Day in 1660. At the center is the re-telling of the Christmas narrative taken from the Gospels of Matthew and Luke composed by Heinrich Schtz.
