The Producer's Fund Presents a Reading of New Play THE INVENTOR

By:

Iron Age Theatre & The Producer's Fund announces a one-day live reading performance of THE INVENTOR, an experimental full length play about a brilliant but troubled immigrant on the verge of inventing something to change all of humankind, by Daniella Vinitski. The reading will take place on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 2:00pm at the Drake Theater, 302 S Hicks Street in Philadelphia, PA 19102 (Hicks is off Spruce Street, between Broad & 15th Streets). Tickets to the reading of THE INVENTOR are free and open to the public.

A renowned scientist and immigrant on the cusp of completing an invention to benefit mankind is plagued by post-war PTSD and medical negligence. His life-defining work, a new fantastical invention thought impossible by science, is threatened to derail. Will the world lose both the invention and the scientist, a troubled but inherently good everyman forced at a difficult crossroad?

Daniella Vinitski Mooney is a theatre artist/scholar trained in experimental and classical performance through the NYU Tisch School Experimental Theatre Wing (ETW) and the Royal Academy in London. As a playwright, her work has been produced and workshopped nationally, including through American Theatre Wing-recognized FUSION Theatre and Mildred's Umbrella. Her work has been described as "compelling and exciting" by The Flea Theatre former resident director Lilleth Glimcher; "lyrical, lovely, and thought-provoking" by Cambridge University Press; "lovely and resonant," by Jewish Plays Project Artistic Director David Winitsky; and "Solid Absurdist theatre" by Bonaly. Daniella is a Producer's Fund grant recipient, as well as a BCAA emerging artist in multimedia directing, and former playwright-in-residence with Iron Age. As a performer Daniella has worked with fringe and International Artists. She currently freelance dramaturgs through PlayPenn and is a contributor to Routledge anthology, Physical Dramaturgy: Perspectives from the Field. daniellavinitski.com

Marcia Ferguson is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania theatre department and has taught, acted and directed professionally in theatre, film and television in Philadelphia, New York, Rome and Tokyo, as well as the Edinburgh fringe.
