Mauckingbird Theatre Company to Present SING OUT LOUD Concert of LGBTQ Compositions

By:

Mauckingbird Theatre Company, now in its 10th season presenting professional gay-themed theater, brings a benefit concert of new LGBTQ compositions to Philly. Funny. Political. Satirical.

Romantic, SING OUT LOUD features some of Philadelphia theatre's finest talent, including; Kim Carson, Nate Golden, Mike Dorsey, Zachary Chiero, Stephen Tornetta, Lindsay Mauck, Victoria Mayo, Mitchell Bloom, Philip Anthony Wilson, Carl Smith, José Mangual, Allison Boyle, Jenna Rogalski, JorDan Dobson, Tyler Ivey, Tyler Tejada, and Camille Young, with Musical Direction by John Daniels.

Mauckingbird Artistic Director Peter Reynolds approached his friend and colleague, composer/lyricist Katya Stanislavskaya, with the idea of presenting original LGBTQ compositions in an intimate venue for Mauckingbird audiences. Stanislavskaya, a member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, a program that is widely regarded as the premiere training ground for emerging musical theatre composers, lyricists, and librettists, contributed two of her own compositions and reached out to fellow writers.

Many writers generously donated their songs for the weekend concert, including Barbara Anselmi, Will Aronson, Ella Rose Chary, Joey Contreras, Greg Edwards, Brian Hargrove, Michael R. Jackson, Adam Mathias, Jonathan Monro, Bill Nelson, Zak Sandler, Frank Terry, Joseph Trefler, Joel Waggoner and Philadelphia's own Dan Martin and Michael Biello.

"We are honored to present these new compositions at a time when it is more important than ever to hear LGBTQ stories sung out loud," said Artistic Director Reynolds, "the generosity of the artists - writers and singers alike - involved in the weekend concert have been extraordinary."

SING OUT LOUD plays two performances only. February 4th at 8:00pm and February 5th at 2:00pm, at The Louis Bluver Theatre at the Drake, located at 302 S. Hicks St. in Philadelphia. Tickets are PAY WHAT YOU CAN donations at the door. Reservations are encouraged due to limited seating and are available online at www.mauckingbird.org.
