Married Stars Kier Dullea and Mia Dillon to Lead ON GOLDEN POND at Bucks County Playhouse

Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) announces Bucks County's own John Augustine to return (The Hummingbird's Tour, 2014, Director) to the Bucks County Playhouse stage as "Larry" in Stephen Sondheim's COMPANY, running May 29-June 21. Augustine will play alongside Broadway's Candy Buckley (Scandalous, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Cabaret) as "Joanne".

"John, one of our Artistic Associates, has been an indelible part of our education department. We are thrilled to feature his acting talent now as well, as he joins the inestimable Candy Buckley, who returns to our stages following her appearance in Barefoot in the Park," says Executive Producer Robyn Goodman.

The COMPANY cast also includes BCP alumni John Bolton, Jennifer Cody, Steve Rosen, Max Kumangai, and Justin Guarini as Bobby; as well as John Caliendo, Chelsea Emma Franko, Anne Horak, Susannah Jones, Laura Jordan, Gabrielle Ruiz, and Kate Wetherhead. COMPANY is directed by Hunter Foster, with choreography by Lorin Latarro, scenic design by Jason Sherwood, costume design by Jennifer Caprio, lighting design by Jake DeGroot, and sound design by Bart Fasbender.

Next up at Bucks County Playhouse, real-life married couple Keir Dullea and Mia Dillon (pictured, above) will star as the iconic leading couple in the all-American classic, ON GOLDEN POND by Ernest Thompson.

"Ernest Thompson's beautiful comedy about love is timely and offers a sparkier slant than the beloved film. We are thrilled to welcome Keir Dullea and Mia Dillon to New Hope. I saw them two years last in Provincetown Tennessee Williams Festival's production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and invited them to the Playhouse. I've been a fan of Keir Dullea since DAVID AND LISA, and Mia and I worked together on the original Broadway production of Crimes of the Heart," said Alexander Fraser, Playhouse Producing Director.

ON GOLDEN POND will feature Direction by Jonathan Silverstein, Scenic Design by Steven C. Kemp, Costume Design by Jennifer Paar, Lighting Design by Gina Scherr, and Sound Design by Obadiah Eaves.

Following ON GOLDEN POND, BCP announces the Tony Award-winning musical comedy, THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, conceived by Rebecca Feldman with music and lyrics by William Finn and book by Rachel Sheinkin. This hilarious tale of overachievers' angst presents a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time. Led by director Jessica Stone and choreographer Connor Gallagher, the musical invites the audience to join this band of unlikely heroes as they sing and dance their way through their quest for the grand prize.

Bucks County Playhouse's 76th anniversary season will end this winter with the return of the much-celebrated IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A LIVE RADIO PLAY.

Bucks County Playhouse, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, provides the finest theatrical entertainment for visitors and residents of New Hope, Doylestown, Lambertville and the Delaware Valley. Located between Philadelphia and New York, Bucks County Playhouse opened in 1939 in a converted 1790 gristmill after a group of community activists, led by Broadway orchestrator Don Walker and playwright Moss Hart, rallied to save the building. The Playhouse quickly became one of the country's most famous regional theaters, featuring a roster of American theatrical royalty including Helen Hayes, Kitty Carlisle, Colleen Dewhurst, Shirley Booth, Lillian Gish, Grace Kelly, Robert Redford, Bert Lahr, Walter Matthau, Angela Lansbury, Bernadette Peters, Alan Alda, Tyne Daly, Liza Minnelli and Audra McDonald and remained in continuous operation until December 2010. In 2012, the Playhouse re-opened thanks to the efforts of the Bridge Street Foundation, the nonprofit family foundation of Kevin and Sherri Daugherty, and Broadway producer Jed Bernstein. Since the 2012 re-opening, debuting at the Playhouse then led to Broadway, Terrence McNally's Mothers and Sons, starring Tyne Daly, received its world premiere at the Playhouse in 2013 and opened on Broadway in February 2014, where it was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play. Following Mothers and Sons, it has been announced recently another BCP production, MISERY, based on Stephen King's novel, will open on Broadway this Fall starring Bruce Willis, marking the 2nd time in three years that a BCP show has landed on the main stem, returning the Playhouse to its roots as an incubator for Broadway, including 1951′s The Fourposter starring Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn, Neil Simon's first play Come Blow Your Horn, and Barefoot in the Park starring Robert Redford and Elizabeth Ashley.
